I’m Will LeVasseur, ARNP, FNP-BC (I'm a nurse practitioner) and welcome to my practice!
After a twenty-year collegiate journey, I achieved my life-long dream: Becoming a medical professional. Before this, I attended Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle, WA) and earned a BFA in Theatre. Contemplating a career in acting, I moved to New York City in 2004 and began the rat race that is the "Big Apple". Determined to succeed in that arena, my time was spent auditioning after working various office temp gigs. Eventually, I created my own theatre company, creating my own brand of theatre, and that would end up being the key to my success.
Founding Redd Tale Theatre Company with my partner, James, in 2006, we ran for seven seasons where we served as co-Artistic Directors. Gaining popularity with original works and mounting several Shakespeare shows, RTTC began to get noticed in the Off-Off-Broadway community. Heavily influenced by Sci-Fi/Fantasy, my productions had touches of the wild or weird for the audience to ruminate on long after they left.
I found office temp work difficult to reconcile with RTTC, so I went back to school and became a massage therapist at the same time. Joining scientific curiosity with a tactile understanding of the body, an opportunity to build my own private medical massage practice presented itself, and I pounced. Knowing I had total creative license, I began writing my own original works while building my private medical massage practice. Launching my first original work in 2010, I took Aristophanes’ Greek tragedy and brought it forward to today. Maddy: A Modern Day Medea's critical acclaim could be directly credited to the cast & crew's incredible performances on and off-stage.
Noticed by preeminent Off-Off-Broadway critic, Martin Denton, Maddy was published in his Best of Off-Off-Broadway: 2010 anthology. Once opening night's curtain closed, he came up to me and said “I never liked Medea; you helped me understand her.” Productions of RTTC continued till 2013 when one of our company members passed from cancer that went undetected by her providers for years till it was too late. Questioning my own place in the world, and asking myself how I could be of more service, I “screwed [my] courage to the sticking place” and in 2015 moved to Seattle, with my now husband, to become a nurse practitioner.
Required to take a few courses to fulfill prerequisites, while also maintaining a private massage practice, I was eventually admitted to Seattle University in 2019 and began their APNI program, wherein four years you earn a doctorate degree. Seeing gaps in healthcare, especially within the LGBTQIA+ community, I worked hard for those four years and in 2023 graduated with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner. Throughout this journey, my husband and I dove into polyamory and began dating others together eventually finding Grant, a Masters in Music classical musician (Viola). Understanding that the Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) community we exist within is a newly emerging population, my doctoral project focused on positive and/or negative experiences in the patient/provider setting after “coming out” as CNM.
Visions of creating a CNM-focused Family Practice slowly emerged, and I began working toward that goal. With the support of friends and family, Doc Mamas Medicine LLC was created and began seeing patients August 2024. Xenophobic providers who don’t/won’t understand or accept CNM are causing real harm to their patients, and I decided to dedicate my practice to doing something about it. Yearning to work with this population to re-establish trust in healthcare professionals, I bring my own lived experience of CNM-based medical discrimination to the table so that my patients feel understood and safe. Zealously serving both the LGBTQIA+ and CNM communities, I enthusiastically welcome all demographics, regardless.
